NEW 8000 LB. CUSHION TIRE BOXCAR SPECIAL MODEL FROM TOYOTA FEATURES COMPACT MANEUVERABILITY

TORRANCE, CA(May 15, 1997)Toyota Industrial Equipment (TIE), a division of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., announced today the addition of the 8000 lb. cushion tire Boxcar Special to the 6-Series line of internal combustion forklifts. The Boxcar Special is designed to deliver the kind of maneuverability found in the 6000 lb. 6-Series cushion tire models in an 8000 lb. capacity lift truck. The tight turning radius and short overall length are ideal for warehousing applications with limited aisle space and applications which utilize railroad cars.

The Boxcar Special model shares the advanced designs found in the 6-Series Toyota forklifts, such as heavy-duty wide-view mast assembly, tilt steering wheel, no tool floorboard, and integrated monitoring system. In addition, the model features a high torque 262 cu. inch V6 gasoline engine, 2-speed powershift transmission, rugged planetary drive axle, centralized hydraulic power-assist system, and swing-down LP tank bracket.

As with all Toyota products, operator comfort and ergonomics are high priorities. Extensive customer field testing was conducted during the design and development. Ultra-comfort suspension seat, dual operator assist grips, full hydrostatic power steering, conveniently placed controls, and generous foot, leg and head room result in a truck that is comfortable to operate. The swing-down LP tank bracket enables the operator to replace the tank without leaning over the counterweight, allowing a proper lifting motion which can help reduce back strain. This design also offers convenient service access to the engine compartment. Additionally, wide-view mast assembly and low front cowl contribute to excellent operator visibility.

The 6-Series line of internal combustion forklifts are built by Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing, Inc., (TIEM) in Columbus, Indiana.
